Nobu Su was quick to lash back saying he was “surprised and disappointed” with the ruling. TMT said it will seek legal advice on today’s ruling. The case brought by Polys Haji-Ioannou against Su relates to a failed deal on forward freight agreements (FFAs) struck in 2008. Under the original agreement, Haji-Ioannou agreed to purchase the FFAs from Su with the Taiwanese owner to buy them back one month later at a slightly higher price. But Nobu Su failed to do so, leaving Haji-Ioannou to pursue him for $80m, an amount later reduced to around $36.1m.
