Since the beginning of the year, 4 two-day seminars each from every category of the current Program have been conducted with the participation of 67 deck, engineer officers and staff members of 26 Member companies and the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation. The participants graded the quality of the seminar and the usefulness of the presented topics from “Excellent” to “Very Good” by 93% and 85% respectively.

This participation in the first four seminars, 12 January-3 February, is the best recorded in the last few years for the same period. This record, allow us to conclude that, apart from the possible availability of officers at the time, the syllabus of the 2016 Program is close to or inside the nowadays reality. “Hot issues” like Bridge Resource Management, navigation in congested waters, marine meteorology/tropical cyclones, solid cargo handling, safety during hot works, ballast water management and VGP requirements in the US received the focus of the participants. These subjects and others will be presented, till the end of the year, during 20 more two-day seminars, divided in the following categories:

– Α. Safety of Navigation
– Β. Work Safety Onboard
– C. Environmental Requirements for Compliance with PSC
– D. Marine Environmental Awareness (recognized by the Maritime Administration of Cyprus)

During the next 30 days the following seminars are scheduled to take place:
