bureauveritaslogoStrong growth in the numbers of ships being transferred into BV class has pushed the Bureau Veritas classed fleet past the 100 million gross tonnes milestone. At the end of the first half of 2014 BV classed 10,700 ships totalling over 100 m gt. Philippe Donche-Gay, Executive Vice President and Head of BV’s Marine & Offshore Division says, “Our classed fleet has doubled in size over the last eight years and it is gratifying that the growth is coming from clients who experience and recognise both our technical leadership and our responsiveness. Apart from bulk, tanker and containerships, in all of which BV has an important market share, BV is a world leader in LNG, one of the few class societies with a major cruise ship portfolio, a world leader in classing tugs, offshore service and specialised vessels and in the top three class societies in the offshore field. Donche-Gay says, “It is an important part of our strategy that we are present in every type of shipping so that we can deploy our experience and competence to help owners with any type of ship or offshore development.”Didier Michaud-Daniel, Chief Executive Officer of Bureau Veritas, says, “Our expertise and innovation in the maritime industry were the founding blocks for the creation of the Bureau Veritas Group. We are proud of the long-term relationships that we have built with our clients based on mutual trust.”
